FAQ

How are Pozzi Ranch Lambs® raised?

Our animals are 100% grass fed and spend their entire lives on open pastures, never "finished" in feed lots with corn or soy. They are treated humanely, raised in low-stress environments and never given hormones or antibiotics. They are protected by Great Pyrenees guard dogs.

Where are Pozzi Ranch Lambs® raised?

All of our animals are raised by ranchers in California who have qualified for the Pozzi Ranch Lamb® Program. These qualifications include a strict management practice for both the animals and natural resources on the ranches. To provide a year-round supply of lambs, we work with other family ranches throughout Northern California and the San Joaquin Valley. We follow the patterns of the growth of the grasses. In the spring through early summer, the lambs come from Sonoma and Marin Counties. In the late summer, fall and winter, the lambs come from irrigated pastures in Sacramento County.

What are the health benefits of eating grass fed lamb?

Grass-fed meat is lower in total fat and calories than animals raised in feed lots. It also provides higher levels of Omega-3s, and are richer in antioxidants; including vitamins E, beta-carotene, and vitamin C. Additionally, grass-fed lamb does not contain traces of added hormones, antibiotics or other drugs. Are Pozzi Ranch Lambs® certified organic?

The lambs are not certified organic because we use a small targeted dose of medication to keep them free of parasites that can harm them. We feel it's more important to keep our lambs healthy and happy than having an organic label.

We invite you to look beyond the label and learn more about organic certifications.

What is Source Verified?

We think it is important for you to know where your lamb was raised. We provide our customers with the name and location of the ranch where the lamb comes from. This way, you can be sure the lamb was raised according to the strict Pozzi Ranch Lamb® standards and qualifications.
